It’s surprising that it took this long for these consoles to get to 4K. There’s no going back now. Yet at the distance most people sit from their TV, unless they have an unusually large TV, they may not notice much of a difference from the 1080P counterparts.
There is a high-end PS4 “Neo” in development but we don’t know as much about it. Xbox’s Project Scorpio console is expected to be available late in 2017. The Xbox One S is a smaller upgrade that will be out sooner and feature 4K up-scaling, 4K Blu-ray, and 4K video streaming.
The official video from Xbox is here:
Featuring a 13.5″ screen with a 3000×2000 resolution (267PPI), a 3.34 pound weight with keyboard, and impressive specs for its size, Microsoft finally has made something that appears to exceed Apple’s comparable products. The screen is removable and becomes a surface like tablet PC. And it has 4K output.
