It’s surprising that it took this long for these consoles to get to 4K. There’s no going back now. Yet at the distance most people sit from their TV, unless they have an unusually large TV, they may not notice much of a difference from the 1080P counterparts.

New Playstation 4 Pro: No 4K Blu-ray
The unit does have 4K HDR game play and 4K streaming however. We are still disappointed to see this lack of 4K Blu-ray, especially given Sony’s past choices that made Blu-ray more widespread.
Xbox One S to Feature 4K
There is a high-end PS4 “Neo” in development but we don’t know as much about it. Xbox’s Project Scorpio console is expected to be available late in 2017. The Xbox One S is a smaller upgrade that will be out sooner and feature 4K up-scaling, 4K Blu-ray, and 4K video streaming.

Nvidia’s Shield $200 Android TV and Game Console with 4K Video Streaming
See Nvidia’s webpage on the Shield for more information, but some of the interesting claims are that it’s components are twice as powerful as the Xbox 360, and that it can stream 4K video. The Shield runs off a Tegra X1 processor, has 3GB of memory and has a 256-core Nvidia Maxell GPU.
