There are several of us who are trying to decide between the Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro and the Panasonic EVA1. We have footage from the Ursa Mini and now more EVA1 footage is starting to role out. Of course there will be advantages that each has over the other but it’s just nice to have this much quality and functionality at under $10K.
It’s a shame this camera is overpriced, lacks c-log, and uses an 8-bit codec, because it’s otherwise great with it’s sensor size, 60p, auto-focus, adequate lens and image stabilization. We’ll wait for the next iteration that has 10-bit color. We just can’t go back to 8-bit anymore.
The Panasonic GH5 remains the best value in its form factor for a video camera. And the excellent recent firmware update improved it even further. Here are some reminders about what this camera can do:
