We were pretty hard on this video camera when it first came out but Sony, uncharacteristically, was responsive with firmware fixes and they did release a raw upgrade.
It’s nice to see competition for the GoPros whose prices were getting too high. These reviewers are positive about this camera.
We continue to be impressed by the quality out of the DJI Phantom 4. The following video is a good example. Also note that we see a lot of drones for sale on the used boards, so try and test out or rent a drone if you can before you’re sure it’s something you want to invest in.
While our focus is 4K resolution, resolution is only one of the factors that makes a great image. 4K plus high-dynamic-range (HDR) is our ideal and TV makers are finally putting more efforts towards HDR.

We are really liking the image quality coming out of this camera and we have even higher expectations from the upcoming Panasonic GH5. A good example of what this camera can do:
Sony’s X3000 improvements seem to focus around optical image stabilization. Sony appears to have implemented their BOSS system for this action camera.
